I couldn’t agree more: Real men play Gradius.

The first GC game I fired up on the Wii was Ikaruga. It’s mesmerizing and beautiful to watch, and it absolutely, positively, captures that old skool arcade play feel. Some people claim games like this are repetitive, boring, and have a very steep learning curve. Maybe for some. But for me at least, that repetition, and wanting to try just one more time to get past that level — that’s what makes some shmups truly great games.
